Initial Massage Therapy Appointment

Description
Call or Email us to Book ~ Your first visit is a comprehensive introduction to massage therapy care. To ensure your treatment is safe and effective, this appointment includes a mandatory clinical assessment. We will review your health history, discuss your primary concerns, and perform relevant physical evaluations—such as range of motion or orthopedic testing—to develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs. Choosing the right duration for your first visit: 30 – 45 Minutes: Best for a highly focused assessment and treatment of a single minor issue or acute injury. 60 – 75 Minutes: The recommended choice for most new clients. This often provides sufficient time for a thorough intake and assessment while ensuring ample time for hands-on therapeutic treatment of one to two areas or a quick full body general wellness/relaxation treatment. 90 Minutes: Ideal for complex health histories or multiple areas of concern, allowing for a more extensive assessment and therapeutic session OR allowing us time in a full-body general wellness treatment to dedicate extra attention to your primary areas of concern without compromising on the relaxation from a full-body routine. Following the assessment: Your therapist will discuss the proposed treatment, including its benefits and any potential risks, to obtain your informed consent before proceeding with the hands-on portion of your visit. Personalized Home Care: To maximize the benefits of your session, your RMT will prescribe personalized home care. This may include therapeutic stretches, strengthening exercises, or hydrotherapy (heat/ice) protocols designed to support your recovery and maintain physical progress between appointments. What to Expect: Intake: Please arrive a few minutes early to complete your health history form if you haven't done so online. Privacy & Draping: Treatments and assessments are conducted in a private environment. Your therapist will provide clear instructions on how to position yourself on the table. Specific and professional draping is used at all times to ensure only the area being treated is uncovered. Communication: You remain in control of the session. You may request changes to pressure, focus areas, or stop the treatment at any time. Preparation & Attire: Clothing: For the assessment portion, please wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. During the massage, you may undress to your level of comfort; your RMT will work within your boundaries to ensure you feel secure. Oil & Lotions with your Jewelry & Accessories: As therapeutic oils or lotions are often used during treatment, please consider removing any delicate jewelry or clothing items you would prefer not to come into contact with these products of course remaining within your comfort level. We recommend removing necklaces, large earrings, or watches prior to your session to allow for unobstructed treatment.
