Hot Stone Massage is an excellent way to treat deep muscle tissue, induce relaxation and aid in the reduction of joint discomfort.

During a hot stone massage; smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body while the therapist uses others to massage the areas they are working on. 

The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat and are heated up usually between 120º to 145º in a water filled stone warmer. 

This heat helps you relax and will aid in easing tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body.

Hot Stone Massage Therapy Treatment

A 45 minute Ayurvedic Indian Scalp, Head and Face Massage Treatment with warm oils and hot oil hair treatment.
The Indian head massage is an ancient therapeutic practice used in India for over 2,000 years, (since around 600 B.C), is a more vigorous treatment than the standard swedish techniques used in traditional massage therapy by RMT's in Ontario. 
The Indian Head Massage Treatment (also known as champissage) has the Massage Therapist massaging your neck, shoulders, face, scalp, hair and head all first without oil and then with.

Some potential benefits to Indian Head Massage are: 

Preventing jaw pain, clenching, teeth grinding, headaches and migraines by releasing built-up tension in the head, face, jaw and neck area and relieving muscle stiffness.
Increasing relaxation which can relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Relieving stress and quieting the mind which can also improve sleep.
Stimulating lymphatic drainage in the head, neck and face.

Indian Head Massage Therapy Treatment

Traditional Thai Massage - an ancient form of full body treatment combining passive stretching, compressions and acupressure in a rhythmic and systematic 90 minute routine.
Thai Massage is commonly referred to as Thai-Yoga Massage in the West because the recipient (Client) is passively moved through a range of yoga like postures by the RMT.
The recipient will lay flat on the mat and the therapist will work foot to head over the entire body. 

This whole body treatment can increase circulation, improve vitality and restore a feeling of overall balance by relieving muscle tension and works towards aligning the body back to a more natural neutral position you can relax into. Usually a very invigorating treatment, this routine is effective at increasing flexibility, stimulating the nervous system, restoring postural dysfunction and can be helpful for those suffering from insomnia. 

Thai Massage Therapy Treatment

In addition to a regular massage therapy appointment RMT's authorized by CMTO may use acupuncture in their Massage Therapy practice to more specifically assess and treat physical dysfunctions and pain of the soft tissue and joints of the body.

These appointments are not for everyone as some conditions may pose possible contraindications to acupuncture treatment such as: pregnancy, use of a pacemaker, mechanical heart valve in place, skin infection in areas to be treated, coagulopathy (blood clotting disorders), use of anticoagulant medications (blood thinners), or immunosuppressive drugs.

RMT's are not able to bill your insurance company for "acupuncture appointments" as this is a massage therapy appointment with some acupuncture included rather than an acupuncture appointment which can only be provided by a "Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner" and/or "Acupuncturist".
